As part of the “39 Country Initiative” project, on November 26, 2025, a seminar was held for the first time at the Tajik State University of Commerce (TSUC) in cooperation with the Ivey Business School at Western University, London, Canada, with the participation of Professor Glenn Rowe. The primary aim of the event was to strengthen international cooperation, exchange teaching experience, master the methodology of working with case studies, apply them in the educational process, and expand higher education opportunities. The seminar provided faculty members and students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with advanced approaches to developing and using case-based teaching methods in their various forms.
It should be noted that the Ivey Business School is one of the world’s leading academic institutions in the field of management. Ivey Publishing: Case Studies is a comprehensive collection of educational materials (case studies) published by the institution. The Ivey Publishing: Case Studies portfolio includes over 8,500 business cases, technical notes, and articles from the Ivey Business Journal. This institution is one of the largest producers and distributors of management-oriented case study materials in the world, ranking second only to Harvard Business School. Ivey case materials are used in more than 150 countries worldwide.
To support the development of education, the Ivey Publishing: Case Studies platform provides its teaching materials and cases to the faculty of the Tajik State University of Commerce free of charge. It should be emphasized that the standard cost of a single case for individual purchase is approximately USD 4.50 per student. TSUC faculty members have the opportunity to access the Ivey Publishing: Case Studies platform, independently select the required educational content, and apply it in their teaching activities at no cost. Currently, over 2,000 instructors worldwide actively use these resources.
During the seminar, Professor Glenn Rowe discussed with faculty and students the structure, content, and methodological features of working with case studies. He emphasized that the use of the case method enables students not only to acquire theoretical knowledge but also to make decisions in conditions close to real business environments, thereby improving their practical skills. The discussions and case analysis process play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education, adapting curricula to labor market requirements, and equipping graduates with the competencies necessary for successful employment.
This initiative, developed by the university’s partners within the framework of international cooperation and support for educational institutions—including universities in the Republic of Tajikistan—makes a significant contribution to improving the educational process and implementing modern practice-oriented teaching methods, which in turn helps raise the quality of professional education.
