On March 28, 2025, the Tajik State University of Commerce hosted a Republican Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic "Glacier Protection, Water, and Nature." The event was attended by scientists, researchers, educators, and students. It was noted that, upon the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, 2025 has been declared the "International Year of Glacier Protection," and March 21 of each year has been designated as the "International Day of Glacier Protection." The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has adopted important programs for glacier protection and water resource management, which confirm the country’s contribution to solving this global issue.
The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector for Science and International Relations, Associate Professor Jamshid Nematulloevich Mashokirov, who emphasized the importance of protecting glaciers and water resources.
During the conference, scientific reports were presented on environmental protection and the impact of various factors on glaciers, including:
• Kodirov Anvar Saidkulovich, Director of the Center for Innovative Development of Science and New Technologies of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, with a report on "The Impact of Technogenic and Natural Factors on the Hydrological State of Rivers and Climate";
• Zubayidov Saidahmad, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Higher Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the TSUC, with a report on "Calculations of Heat Flow Densities Contributing to Glacier Melting and Analysis of the Factors Affecting Them";
• Ghafurov Ravshan, Master’s student and teacher at the Lyceum of TSUC, with a report on "Initiatives of the National Leader – the Savior of the Planet";
• Ahmadova Parvina, Teacher at the Department of Higher Mathematics and Natural Sciences of TSUC, with a report on "The Process of Glacier Melting Due to Climate Change."
At the conclusion of the conference, a discussion and a Q&A session were held between the participants and speakers.
