Every year on March 15, World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated. This day plays a crucial role in protecting consumer rights and interests, raising public awareness, and ensuring economic justice.

Compliance with international consumer protection standards, including the eight fundamental principles recognized by the UN, is an important condition for a fair market environment. These principles include:

  1. The Right to Safety – Consumers should have access to high-quality and safe goods and services.
  2. The Right to Information – Every person should receive accurate and reliable information about products and services.
  3. The Right to Choose – Consumers should have the opportunity to choose from a variety of products and services.
  4. The Right to Redress – In case of harm caused by poor-quality goods or inadequate services, consumers have the right to file complaints and receive compensation.
  5. The Right to Protection Against Unfair Practices – Ensuring consumer protection from unfair market practices and misleading advertising.
  6. The Right to Be Heard – Consumers should have a say in decisions affecting their interests.
  7. The Right to a Healthy Environment – Everyone should live in a clean and environmentally safe setting.
  8. The Right to Consumer Education – Consumers should receive the necessary knowledge about their rights and responsibilities.

Increasing legal awareness and complying with international standards will help create a fair market environment and protect consumer rights and interests.
